# 1995 Doubled Die Penny Value: What Yours Is Worth

By Mike Moore. Published Oct 8, 2026. Updated Oct 8, 2026. Canonical page: https://dimehound.app/coins/1995-doubled-die-penny-value/

A 1995 doubled die penny is worth about $5 in circulated condition, $7 to $15 in lower uncirculated grades, and about $45 to $80 in high uncirculated red grades. It is one of the few valuable errors still found in pocket change. Normal 1995 pennies are worth one cent.

- **Variety:** 1995 doubled die obverse. Philadelphia, no mint mark.
- **What is doubled:** LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. The date is not doubled.
- **How common:** Relatively common for a doubled die. High grade red coins are where the premium is.

## What to look for

- Use a 5x or 10x loupe on LIBERTY. The doubling shows clearly on the letters.
- IN GOD WE TRUST shows doubling too.
- No mint mark. A doubled look on a 1995-D is usually machine doubling, though a much rarer 1995-D doubled die (FS-103) does exist.

## Fakes and lookalikes

- Machine doubling is common on zinc cents and is worth nothing extra. Real die doubling shows separated, rounded letter outlines.

About $5 circulated, $7 to $15 in lower uncirculated grades, and about $45 to $80 in high uncirculated red grades.

Yes. They still turn up in rolls and coin jars. The Mint stopped making circulating pennies in November 2025, but existing pennies stay in use.
