A 2004-D Wisconsin quarter with the Extra Leaf variety is worth about $45 to $50 in worn condition and about $160 to $270 in MS65, and a top graded Low Leaf sold for $6,000. There are two versions, High Leaf and Low Leaf. A normal Wisconsin quarter is worth 25 cents.

- **Varieties:** Extra Leaf High (the extra leaf curves up toward the corn) and Extra Leaf Low (it curves down).
- **Mint mark:** D, on the front to the right of Washington's ponytail. Only Denver coins have this variety.
- **Where to look:** The back, on the left side of the ear of corn.

## What to look for

- Turn the coin over and find the ear of corn on the right side, behind the wheel of cheese. The cow is on the left.
- Look below the ear of corn for an extra leaf that does not belong. High Leaf curves upward, Low Leaf curves down toward the other leaves.
- Check for the D mint mark on the front. Philadelphia coins do not have the variety.

## Fakes and lookalikes

- Scratches and post-mint damage can look like a leaf. A real extra leaf is raised and shaped like a leaf, not a line cut into the surface.
- A loupe helps. If it is real, PCGS and NGC both attribute High and Low Leaf coins.
