What to look for
- Use a 5x or 10x loupe on LIBERTY. The doubling shows clearly on the letters.
- IN GOD WE TRUST shows doubling too.
- No mint mark. A doubled look on a 1995-D is usually machine doubling, though a much rarer 1995-D doubled die (FS-103) does exist.
Fakes and lookalikes
- Machine doubling is common on zinc cents and is worth nothing extra. Real die doubling shows separated, rounded letter outlines.
